plains is a small independent brand dedicated to exploring handloom in clothing and lifestyle. Started as a personal project in a medium outside of her graduate studies in design, Nikita found herself influenced by the sophistication of a handloom textile, the influence of time and weather in its making, a weaver’s innate understanding of colour and their dedication to the loom. On any given day, she found the touch and tactility of a handloom cloth reassuring.
plains was eventually born in 2023 when the acknowledgement of making and creating with handloom felt joyous.

Built in roomy and boxy fits, clothes at plains reflect simplicity and function and an interplay, of colour, pattern and texture, ultimately meant to be relaxed and lived in.

By partnering and working with weavers, non-profits, and craftspeople who not only commit to fair trade practices but safeguard old weaving techniques, plains hopes to be at the intersection of old and new.
